Author : Alex De Thomson

Church has always been a fundamental part of society. Many people believe that church represents and influences their everyday lives and activities. These days, churches can face many obstacles when it comes to choosing the right messages to send to people. A lot of times, these messages can be misinterpreted or misunderstood as something else, and the fact is that maintaining a well-organized church includes maintaining an appropriate image, for members as well as the public at large. The Internet is the best way for any church to create and disseminate a message about what it stands for.

There are certain steps that a church should follow when they are deciding how to build a church website. These 10 important steps will help with that process.

1. Make sure to choose an attractive but professional design. Church is just like any other organization that requires certain degrees of formality when establishing its ideals and offering information. This is why it's important to have a professional looking site. The site is going to reflect the church in many ways, so be sure that you are adding things that current and potential church members can relate to.

2. The site needs to be interactive as well as useful to visitors. There are so many millions of sites on the Internet that there is always going to be one that's more popular than the other. It is important to keep your site just as interesting and useful as the best ones like it, and let the popularity find its own level. Keep your members coming back to the site by listing up-to-date information and upcoming events. You can even include pictures, blogs and information on classes or ministry activities.

3. Choose a web hosting provider that will offer you all the support necessary to run a successful site. This step is very important but often overlooked. Don't allow the "do it yourself" approach to ruin anything for your site so be prepared if something goes wrong. Technical problems need to be put into the hands of the professionals, so get some help from staff or volunteers. When you hire a hosting provider, you need to be sure you trust them, as well.

4. Choose a provider that offers features that are especially designed for a church site. Having the right features can make all the difference. Providers that offer such things as site statistics can be a huge help. A hosting provider can offer a weekly backup to alleviate any headaches about potentially losing your data. The more features offered, the better.

5. Regardless of your site's size, you want a provider to offer plans according to the needs of your church, no matter how small it is or how big it grows.

6. Providers should be upfront with all of the applicable fees associated with starting your site. Avoid the hidden charges by asking for an itemized estimate. This way, you won't be paying for anything you don't need.

7. Have a good set of management tools in place. You need to acquaint yourself with the term CMS (content management system). This is a system put in place to help you organize content that is on your site like blogs, media and calendars, as your church will want to deliver the right message, in a professional way, to site visitors.

8. Be sure to have an idea of how much bandwidth the church will require. Some providers allow you to choose the bandwidth space you need. If your church will be expanding and growing it's important to plan ahead and be prepared with extra space.

9. When you're considering a provider that can help you maintain, design and host your site, it's necessary that you investigate what the "administrator interface" looks like. You don't want to get stuck with a site control panel that is highly advanced if you are a beginner. This can be way out of your league. Start with a simple interface if you're a beginner who has no expert help.

10. The more advanced your tools are the better. Beside the CMS, your church may need advanced tools such as a "ministries management" system, newsletter tools, volunteer management forms, membership records and a photo album. A "prayer center" and an advance calendar system are other things that could be handled by a good CMS (see #7 above) plus some low- or no-cost utilities.

The most important thing to consider when choosing the right hosting provider for you church's website is the fact that, if your church grows and expands, you will need a provider that can grow and expand with you. Make sure to plan ahead and design your site around the members, so that they truly get a sense of the message your ministry is trying to send. Design a site that will allow for your members to feel interactive with it. Search for a provider that can offer the essential tools needed for a successful site, but realize up front that it takes a lot of work on your part. If you really put your heart into it, your congregation just might consider the church's new website a true godsend.

About The Author

Article Marketing has become enormously popular in recent times. Thousands of articles are being submitted everyday to various article directories and article distributors. Unfortunately many of the articles submitted for marketing are sub standard with spelling mistakes, grammatical errors and inadequate knowledge of the subject. To cash in and to make the most out of article marketing, it is important that you know what article marketing is all about. Why you should do it and how you can succeed in it.

What:

Article marketing is a practice of writing and posting articles related to your business or products in various article directories. Each article has a resource box where you can submit details of your business, yourself and the URL of your website. In other words this is free advertisement for your business. These articles can also be distributed through article distributors for a fee giving your article increased exposure.

Why:

Having understood the meaning of article marketing, it is obvious that you want to know why you should market your articles.

By writing good authoritative articles, you become recognized as an expert in your field.

If your articles are sincere and educative, you will soon earn the trust of your audience. Once they trust you they will trust your products and services too.

By submitting your articles to various directories and distributors, your articles will get great exposure and soon they will have a viral effect as other webmasters pick up your articles for publishing in their websites.

It is one of smartest ways of creating a number of one way incoming links to your website and thereby increasing your link popularity. Search Engines value these links more than reciprocal links and your site will rank higher in the search engines.

Advertising your product in the media is expensive and does not have a lasting effect whereas your articles will remain for ever.

Good articles always generate a high volume of traffic to the website which in effect means greater sales.

How :

Once you realize the importance of marketing your articles, it makes sense to understand how this can be achieved.

The most important requirement here is that your article should be knowledgeable, display your expertise and be free of grammatical and spelling mistakes.

However good your article may be, what grabs the attention of someone searching an article directory for topic related articles is the title. So it is absolutely essential that you have a powerful captivating title related to the content.

Place the keyword or keyword phrase in the title, sub headings and in the content of the article in a manner that makes it looks natural and blends with the article. Optimizing the keywords in this manner will help your article to appear high in the search results for the relevant keywords. Additionally wherever possible you should use those keywords as the anchor text for any links in your resource box or in your article.

Have a resource box that is meaningful and captivating. It should have the URL of your website and give a short attractive glimpse of yourself, your business or product.

Next for marketing purposes submit your article to all the leading article directories and the relevant websites that accept articles. Additionally distribute it through one of the leading article distributors for even greater exposure.

Conclusion:

By following this guide properly and systematically, you will reap all the benefits of article marketing and succeed where many others have failed.

Demand for website marketing services is exploding while offline businesses all around the globe can’t escape the jaw dropping downturn. Businesses are shrinking expenses wherever they can during this economic downturn. But the reverse is happening in the online world. In fact, online marketing activities are stronger than ever. This is not only because companies want to flex and tone their competitive muscles but consumer online spending is increasing which is a red flag in this current market.

An economic downturn is a great time for companies to rethink and refocus their brands, costs, positioning, market share and competitors. Sure, there’s blood on the floor but when the axis stops its high voltage spin, companies everywhere take a collective sigh and work out their place in the world. And then it’s time to get out there and talk about their new generation of products or services as if they were Lazarus reborn.

A cocky advantage internet marketing has over print and other media is its extremely affordable, making it the logical choice whether every dollar counts or not. A collective sigh is one thing but if you snooze, you lose. Smart companies are improvising. They can’t afford to not market. They need is affordable, cost effective, good returns on investment and sustainable platforms they can build on. Web 2.0 social media marketing provides it all and more.

Hundreds of companies all over the world of every shape and size offer website, blogging, article writing, video and marketing services as well as pay per click and search engine optimization (SEO) services to stimulate and secure links back to their sites for solid search engine rankings. Costs are low, turnaround fast and outsourcing reliable. Traditional marketing services are still in demand but until delivery costs can be significantly reduced to compete they must wait patiently until budgets expand to permit expenditures that have fallen into the luxurious ‘you must be kidding’ category.

Social media marketing has an unfair advantage. It’s very affordable costing only a fraction on other marketing and advertising channels despite its enormous reach into cyber space. It also has high value, long term engineering elements that crank and build interest and trust in companies, products, people and culture by stimulating vital ongoing virtual conversations unlike the usual one-way company shake and rattle delivered by other mediums.

It’s also measurable. Highly measurable. Trial runs, tests and experiments are all easy to measure allowing you to see what works, what doesn’t, who makes up your demographics and where they live. Most of these results are free allowing you to improve your campaigns with laser-like focus until you get it right.

Internet marketers will no doubt spoil the fun of, and possibly humiliate, traditional marketing as they tear away like rockets snatching budgets from those who refuse to believe that things have changed. Right now Web 2.0 social media marketing can’t lose. But the tables could turn in a blink if traditional media does something crazed and unusual to get everyone’s attention. It’s happened before.

7.30am
Up and at em, that’s my motto. Forget about staying in bed until midday, having a relaxing breakfast in the garden, strolling into my home office, turning on the computer and checking my PayPal and click bank accounts, to see how much money I’ve made. According to some internet marketers, this is how they spend their days. Get real!

This does happen occasionally as a treat, but every day? don’t make me laugh. If I did this ever day, I wouldn’t have an internet business left. You must put in the hours if you’re serious about making money on the internet.

8.00am
Had my breakfast (cappuccino and two slices of toast). I’m now in my home office, sat at my desk. My fist job as with every morning is to check my things to do list. This consists of checking my bank accounts, going through my in box, going through my pending box, going through my internet things to do list, checking my emails and going through the post from the previous day. This keeps me right on top of my internet activities.

10.20am
I begin to write five articles, the subjects are: Maverick Money Makers, GVO, The Internet Marketing Centre, Stephen Pierce and Simon Hodgkinson products. These are five affiliate partners I am currently promoting. I am committed to write an article each day for each affiliate.

12.00am
The articles have been written, spell checked, and read several times. I now need to submit them to the following article directories. Ezine Articles.com, I Snare.com, Go Articles.com, Article Base.com & Easy Articles.com. All these are free directories except isnare.com, where I pay less than a dollar per article. However, the articles are published to over 1,000 sites all over the internet, so it’s well worth the money.

1.00pm
I eat the following lunch: Ham salad, banana, cappuccino and a glass of fresh orange. I also take a walk, as I need a break from the office.

2.15pm
Back at my desk. Check my emails, amongst other things, eight emails from internet marketers including Mike Filsaime, Frank Kern, Michael Cheney, Liz Tomey, Jeff Dedrick, Simon Hodgkinson, Stephen Pierce and Joel Therien. Three of them are promoting the same product. This tells me two things:

Firstly, it must be a really great product, something that I simply can’t do with out. Or secondly, it’s a mediocre product and the only reason for the recommendations are the affiliate commissions. After a quick look at the product I conclude it’s the latter of the two, not worth my time and definitely not worth my money.

2.30pm
I begin to work on my latest product, an ebook for internet beginners. I’ve been working on this project for about two weeks now. It’s coming on very nicely. I want it to be at least 50 pages long, full of simple step by step tips on how to get started on the internet. I have many products on this subject, so I’m taking a few ideas and using my own personal experience.

4.30pm
I get changed and it’s off to my local gym. I’ve been going there for over ten years now.

6.00pm
Back from the gym. Did a work out, ran two miles, and had a laugh with the lads. I’m now back in the office. I check my affiliate programmes to see if I’ve made any commissions. I’ve made quite a few sales, but to be honest it’s a bit disappointing. However, there’s no need to feel down, as this is exactly what internet marketing is all about. Sales are always up and down, the secret is to be persistent and never ever stop promoting, learning and improving your internet businesses!

6.30pm
I complete a review for maverick money makers. This is a membership club for internet marketers. I am a member of the club, so I can use my own personal experiences, when writing reviews and promoting the product. It’s a good product so it’s easy to promote.

6.45pm
I finish the sales page for maverick money makers. It contains my personal review, as well as written and video testimonials. It looks ok, but I’m not sure about the header. I spend the next half hour creating a new header.

7.45pm
I’m getting a bit fed up now, I’ve been at it all day. However, I decide to plod on. I start working on my blog for wealth alive.com. This is one of my websites. I try to blog at least twice a week.

8.45pm
I eat my dinner of: tuna pasta, 2 slices of bread, cappuccino, glass of orange and a bar of chocolate (a twirl to be precise).

10pm
I take a shower. I have a great idea for a blog, must get it written down before I forget.

10.30pm
Start to write my blog idea. I’m not bothered about the spelling or how it sounds, I just let things flow, I will edit it later. The blog is about my views and personal experiences on affiliate marketing.

11.45pm
I log in to my maverick money makers members area and check out the latest updates. I listen to an audio recording by Lee Milteer, who is a Performance and Productivity Coach. It’s a great audio full of inspirational stories, tips and advice. Other speakers include, Jerry Clark, Mike Vance, Zig Ziglar, and Mark Victor Hansen.

2.00pm
I find myself pacing up and down my office trying to digest all the information from the audio. It really does give you a surge of energy, not to mention a head full of new ideas.

2.30pm
I make myself a mug of oveltine and hit the sack. Nite nite!

Blogs are a platform and serve the purpose of content publishing. That is what the essence of a blog is. Perhaps a few years ago they were promoted as some kind of on-line diary but what has really taken off since their launch is business blogging, blogging for business and blogging for SEO / SEM ( search engine optimisation / marketing).

Let’s start from the top though.

A blog as an on-line diary. A personal blog.

There are many blog platforms out there which can be set up in minutes and act as a great way for those not technically minded to start publishing their thoughts. When blog platforms first became popular, such as blogger and wordpress, people up and down the world started setting up their own blogs and publishing online diaries. However things have progressed now and blogs are far more than just platforms for online diaries and the publication of our daily thoughts.

Business Blogging

Many companies now utilise blogs to show of their expertise in a particular industry. They can also be used to give notifications of updates and events. with a normal static website you may not want to change too much of the content, may not have space or may not have the tools or expertise to do this so having a blot on blog to your site with the content management system that comes along with it you can easily write and publish articles in your business niche and become regarded as an expert in what you do. You may also use it to publish updates on your services etc.

Bloggin for Business.

As mentioned above, by writing good informative blog posts you can show that you are an expert in your industry. Along with this you can gain a following and promote your services to all that read your blog. Many people use blogs to sell affiliate products as well as their own services by writing reviews and adding an affiliate link after them. It is not unknown of for people to make money solely from their blogging but to do this you need to by a dynamic blogger with lots of motivation. A strong blog can attract thousands of visitors per day and with that comes the chance to convert many of them into sales.

Blogging for SEO (search eangine optimisation)

As in “business blogging” your site may not have the capacity to hold lots of different articles and bolting on a blog to your site or having a stand alone blog makes sense when you want to use key word rich articles to attract search engine traffic. With the right research and good quality articles with your keywords in them you can gain top placement in Google and redirect those visitors to your main site. Blogs are especially good for attracting low level key phrases with long tails. Lets say your site sells Taps, perhaps you cannot fill up your site with every tap related key phrase there is as this would look too spammy. However in your blog you can target dozens and dozens of key phrases and phrases about taps, example “tap shops in london” “taps for older bathrooms” “brass tap shop in london” etc…

Even if you find blogging is not your thing it is always worth giving it a whirl, the set up can be free, quick and painless and a few weeks trying your hand at it will soon give you an idea of whether it is for you. Do remember though, it takes a while to really get the ball rolling and it may well be several months to a year before some good results from your blogging starts showing up
